TUTORIAL [Reports

 

Task 1: Prepare the report

In this task you open a model with results. To create a report, you must open a model with analysis results.

1.     Click (File Open) and open the analyzed model Cover_results (*.adv) ( D:\Program Files\Moldflow\Plastics Advisers 7.3\tutorial ).


You have completed this task. Move on to the next task: Comment on the result.

 

Task 2: Comment on the results

In this task you will look through each of the results and write comments about them for the report.

The Confidence of Fill result is displayed when you open the model. You will write comments about this result and then look through the other results to see if they require comments.

1.     With the Confidence of fill result displayed, click (Results Notes).

2.     Type in the following comment:
The Confidence of Fill result indicates that there will be no problems filling the part.

3.     For each of the other types of results:

·         Select a result from the Results drop-down list.

·         Write a comment about the result.

4.     Click OK to close the Notes dialog.

The notes you write for each result will appear in the report you create later in this tutorial.

If you want to change a comment for a result, click (Results Notes), and select the result from the drop-down list.


You have completed this task. Move on to the next task: The Report Wizard.

Task 3: The Report Wizard

This task shows you how to open the Report Wizard and enter the personal details for the report.

1.     Click (Results Generate Report) to open the Report Wizard.

2.     In the HTML Styles area, use the Active Style drop-down list and select Web.

3.     In the Generate Report area, choose Create New Report, and click Next.

4.     In the Details area:

·         In the Title box, type Mouse Cover.

·         In the Author and Company box, type your name and company.

·         In the Recipient and Recipient Company box, type the name and company of the recipient of the report (optional).

·         Type in the name and path for the gif image of your company logo, or use the button to browse for it (optional).

5.     Click Next.

The Report Wizard is used to enter the details, select the content, and decide on the style of the report. You can only access the Report Wizard if you have a model with results.


You have completed this task. Move on to the next task: Select results.

Task 4: Select results

This task shows you how to select and deselect results for the report.

All results are added to the Select Results page of the Report Wizard by default.

1.     In the right-hand list of result, while holding down the Ctrl button, click on:

·         Glass Model

·         Solid Model

·         Pressure Drop

2.     Click Remove <<. This removes the result from the report.

3.     Click Next.


You have completed this task. Move on to the next task: Create the content.

Task 5: Create the content

In this task you change the sequence of results and write comments about them.

To create an introduction and conclusion:

1.     In the Ordering/Options area, click Introduction.

2.     In the Options area, ensure the Notes check box is selected.

3.     Click the button next to Notes, and type in an introduction in the Notes dialog that appears.

4.     Click OK to close the Notes dialog.

5.     Repeat steps 1-4 for the Conclusion.

To set up the Fill Time result:

1.     In the Ordering/Options area, highlight Fill Time.

2.     In the Options area, ensure the Animation check box is selected.

3.     Select the Notes check box.

4.     Click the button next to Notes, and review the notes that you wrote in task 3.

To set up other results:

1.     In the Ordering/Options area, highlight Confidence of Fill.

2.     Select the GIF Image check box.

3.     Click Display Options.

4.     In the Display Options dialog, deselect Show Injection Location, and click OK.

To re-order results:

1.     In the Ordering/Options area, highlight Fill Time.

2.     Click the Up button to move the result nearer to the top of the list.

The Report Wizard can contain images of any of the results available in the program. There are two types of images that you can include in the report:

*         still images (gif images)

*         animation (animated gif or AVI images)

Note: The date is automatically included in the report.

Task 6: Generate the report

In this task you preview and finish generating the report.

1.     Click Preview.
The Preview Report toolbar appears.

2.     Use the drop-down list to select each result and display a preview of how that result will appear in the report.

3.     Use the tools in the Display menu to manipulate the model as you would want it to appear in the report.

4.     Click (Edit Report) to return to the Report Wizard.

5.     Click Generate.
The Select Target directory dialog appears asking you where to save the report.

6.     Select a location on your computer.

7.     Click Select to generate the report.

8.     Once complete, the report will appear in the Adviser's internal web browser.

Task 7: View the report

 

In this task, you view the report and navigate through it.

1.     In the Internet browser, click the links on the left-hand side to navigate through the report.

Tip: You can also use the scroll bar to move through the report.

2.     On the left side of the report, click Fill Time.

3.     Click on the blue Animation - Fill Time text to view the Fill Time Animation.

If you wish to view the report again at another time, you can either open it in the program's internal Internet browser (PC only) or your external Internet browser. The file you will need to open is start.htm.
